Another intense, dry, and warm year in a string of drought years. Similar to 2007 but with a few more intense heat spells in late summer which pushed ripeness and concentration to the max. Yields were down due to the light rainfall, and also due to mild amounts of desiccation in the fruit from the heat spikes. Overall, a vintage of enormous power and richness, one that showcases how big and luscious Paso Robles wines can get. For this reason, we have questioned the long term aging of the 2008 wines, which may peak sooner than other vintages despite their size and weight. However, these wines have brought some of the most pleasurable near term drinking of any vintage, due to their richness and rather soft tannins.
