2014 was a great follow up to the spectacular 2013 harvest. Winter once again failed to provide much in the way of rainfall, with totals below 10" for the entire season in most vineyards. Now being in the 3rd consecutive year of drought, the vines were showing the stress - but miraculously they ripened their relatively small crops with ease. We begun harvest astonishingly on August 23rd, about 4 weeks earlier than normal! The most notable characteristic of 2014 is concentration; across the board we saw slightly lower acidities and huge tannins. This made for amazing wines, but those which will need years of cellaring to reach their full potential. White wines in 2014 were stunning, richly textured and brightly acidic, but with more intensity than 2012 or 2013.
